Cannot register a FRITZ! smart plug
Registration of a smart plug, for example FRITZ!Smart Energy 200, to the FRITZ!Box fails. After you push the DECT or Connect button on the FRITZ!Box, the DECT connection is not established. The smart plug is not displayed or is displayed with an inactive connection in the "Smart Home" menu in the FRITZ!Box.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.
1 Unlocking the buttons
- Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Buttons and LEDs' in the 'System' menu.
- Click on the 'Button Lock' or 'Keylock' tab.
- Disable the 'Buttons locked' checkbox.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
2 Disabling 'Reduce DECT field strength'
- Click on 'DECT' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Base Station' in the 'DECT' menu.
- Disable the 'Reduce DECT field strength' option in the 'Radio Field Strength' section.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
3 Disabling 'DECT Eco'
- Click on 'DECT' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Base Station' in the 'DECT' menu.
- Disable the option 'DECT Eco' in the section 'Radio Field Strength'.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
4 Enabling encryption
- Click on 'DECT' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Base Station' in the 'DECT' menu.
- Enable the option 'Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)' in the section 'Security'.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
- If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ('System > Backup > Restart').
5 Setting a PIN
For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to '0000' in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

Loading the factory settings of the FRITZ! smart plug
- Push and hold down the DECT button on the FRITZ! smart plug three times in a row for at least 6 seconds each time.
Deregistering the FRITZ! smart plug
- Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu.
- Click the
(Delete) button next to the respective device.
