Always online with FRITZ! Failsafe
Never be offline again: With FRITZ! Failsafe, the new failover protection for the FRITZ!Box, you remain online even when your main connection fails – whether you have fibre optics, cable or DSL: a FRITZ!Box with a mobile network connection takes over the connection. The models FRITZ!Box 6860 5G or 6850 LTE are especially suitable for this, if they are connected to your FRITZ!Box via WAN or LAN. You can also use mobile dongles or smartphones in USB tethering mode for FRITZ! Failsafe. FRITZ! Failsafe is ideal for anyone who depends on a reliable internet connection – whether in a home office or a retail store.
New features for your FRITZ! Smart Home
Now FRITZ!Smart Energy 250 records data from export meters – for complete transparency of your energy production and consumption. FRITZ!OS 8.20 adds additional triggers for smart home routines and makes it easier to register new devices with the FRITZ! Smart Home: The registration of devices with another FRITZ!Box or a FRITZ!Smart Gateway can be started in the user interface of the FRITZ!Box used as the Mesh Master. Additional control functions are also added to the FRITZ!Smart Control 440: Now all of the functions available directly on FRITZ! radiator controls can also be controlled with the four-way switch. You can also add other control functions that set the colour and colour temperature or switch the Wi-Fi on or off, for example.
Improved Online Monitor and optimized parental controls
The improved Online Monitor now shows you at a glance which devices have used the most data over the past two weeks, allowing for even more precise analysis of network usage. The selection of network devices for which the utilization data is to be recorded and displayed has also been simplified considerably. Now the Online Monitor can be used for the entire configuration – for even more intuitive operation and a better overview of the home network.
The parental controls are now simpler to use than ever: All access profiles and devices are presented on one clear page, plus there are now twelve tickets for online time per child – for perfect control and flexibility at home!
Optimized Mesh Wi-Fi and upload sharing that makes sharing files easy
Mesh Wi-Fi brings stable Wi-Fi to every corner of your home, and FRITZ!OS 8.20 makes it even easier to manage your Mesh network! Several FRITZ!Repeaters can now be activated for Mesh operation at the same time, plus it's even easier to access connected FRITZ!Repeaters from the FRITZ!Box user interface – it's no longer necessary to enter the password again.
There is also a new feature for FRITZ!NAS: With the new upload sharing you can easily collect photos, videos, and documents. Simply create a sharing link and your friends and family can upload files. Sharing files can be so easy!

In the FRITZ!Box user interface you can start the search for the update to FRITZ!OS 8.20 (System > Update > Find new FRITZ!OS) or make use of the handy automatic updates.
