Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a NEBA line (Telefónica de España)

To use the FRITZ!Box with a NEBA fiber optic connection, simply connect it to the fiber optic modem and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Important:Currently, we do not have any information about how to use telephony on a NEBA line with the FRITZ!Box. As soon as we find out, we will update this guide.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Asking for account information

  1. Call the customer service department of your internet service provider and ask for
    1. if it is a NEBA DHCP or PPPoE line.
    2. if it is a NEBA PPPoE line, the username and password for internet access.
    3. the VLAN ID and PBit for the internet connection.

      Note:Normally VLAN ID 20 and PBit 0 are used with NEBA fiber optic connections, but also sometimes VLAN ID 24 and PBit 3 or 5.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Insert one end of a network cable into the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box. Use the network cable supplied with the FRITZ!Box, for example.
  2. Insert the other end of the network cable into the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination).

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select the correct entry for your NEBA line from the drop-down list "Internet service provider" ("NEBA DHCP" or "NEBA PPPoE").
  5. Select the correct option for your NEBA line in the section "Type of Connection".
  6. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a NEBA PPPoE line, enter the account information you received from your internet service provider in the relevant fields.
  7. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  8. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is complete as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact your internet service provider.
