Cannot register a FRITZ! smart plug
Registration of the smart plug, for example FRITZ!Smart Energy 200, to the FRITZ!Smart Gateway fails. After you push the Connect button on the FRITZ!Smart Gateway, the DECT connection is not established. The smart plug is not displayed or is displayed with an inactive connection in the "Smart Home" menu in the FRITZ!Box or the gateway.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.
1 Maximum number has been reached
A certain number of smart home devices can be registered with the FRITZ!Smart Gateway. If you already registered the maximum number of devices, you cannot register any more.
2 Disabling 'Reduce DECT field strength'
- Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
- Disable the 'Reduce DECT field strength' option in the 'Radio Field Strength' section.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
3 Disabling 'DECT Eco'
- Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
- Disable the option 'DECT Eco' in the section 'Radio Field Strength'.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
4 Enabling encryption
- Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
- Enable the option 'Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)' in the section 'Security'.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
- If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ('System > Backup > Restart').
5 Setting a PIN
For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to '0000' in the FRITZ!Box user interface:
- Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
- Enter '0000' as the PIN in the section 'Registration'.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
6 Registering the FRITZ! smart plug and deregistering it
You can restore factory settings to the FRITZ! smart plug and deregister it. This deletes a faulty connection to the FRITZ!Box and all of the settings that are preventing the connection from being established:
Loading the factory settings of the FRITZ! smart plug
- Push and hold down the DECT button on the FRITZ! smart plug three times in a row for at least 6 seconds each time.
Deregistering the FRITZ! smart plug
- Click on 'Smart Home' in the FRITZ!Box user interface or in the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
- Click on 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
- Click on the 'Delete Device' button.
- Afterwards, click on the
(Delete) button next to the respective device.
- Click on the 'Finished' button.
