Cannot register the FRITZ! door/window contact

Registration of the FRITZ! door/window contact, for example FRITZ!Smart Control 350, to the FRITZ!Box fails. After you push the DECT or Connect button on the FRITZ!Box, the DECT connection is not established. The door/window contact is not displayed or is displayed with an inactive connection in the "Smart Home" menu in the FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Maximum number has been reached

A certain number of smart home devices can be registered with the FRITZ!Box. If you already registered the maximum number of devices, you cannot register any more.

2 Unlocking the buttons

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Buttons and LEDs' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Button Lock' or 'Keylock' tab.
  4. Disable the 'Buttons locked' checkbox.
  5. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

3 Disabling 'Reduce DECT field strength'

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Disable the 'Reduce DECT field strength' option in the 'Radio Field Strength' section.
  4. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

4 Disabling 'DECT Eco'

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Disable the option 'DECT Eco' in the section 'Radio Field Strength'.
  4. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

5 Enabling encryption

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Enable the option 'Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)' in the section 'Security'.
  4. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
  5. If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ('System > Backup > Restart').

6 Setting a PIN

For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to '0000' in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Enter '0000' as the PIN in the section 'Registration'.
  4. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

7 Resetting and deregistering the door/window contact

You can restore the door/window contact to its factory settings to delete all of the settings that are preventing a connection to the FRITZ!Box from being established. Then you can delete a faulty connection to the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Open the housing of the FRITZ! door/window contact.
  2. Pick up the pin included with delivery.
  3. Carefully insert the pin into the "Reset" opening inside the housing for at least one second. The LED inside the sensor begins to flash and the factory settings are loaded.

Deregistering the door/window contact

If the door/window contact is displayed under "Smart Home > Devices and Groups" in the user interface of your FRITZ!Box, you must delete it:

  1. Click on 'Smart Home' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Delete Device' button.
  4. Click on the (Delete) button next to the respective device.
  5. Click on the 'Finished' button.
