FRITZ! Lab

Issue:

The FRITZ!OS update fails with the message ‘An unspecified error occurred during the update. (5)“.

Solution:

The specified file is not an update file, but rather the fritzbox-*-lab*.zip file, for instance, which also contains the lab update file.
Unzip the downloaded ZIP archive before starting the update and select the update file for the lab from the unzipped files (FRITZ!Box-Labor-xxxx.image).
Detailed instructions for the lab update are presented under ‘Installation on the FRITZ!Box’ on the page from which you downloaded the lab package.

Issue:

Exiting the lab and returning to the official FRITZ!OS

Solution:

Via the FRITZ!Box user interface, the lab can be left at any time in order to return to the official release.

For this an additional option is offered for lab versions in the ‘System’ menu under ‘Update’ on the ‘FRITZ!OS File’ tab: ‘Back to official FRITZ!OS’. This takes you back to the official FRITZ!OS. With this feature you can always also securely restore your original settings with the backup file you created before installing the lab version.

Issue:

Under some circumstances the use of MLO clients can make the Wi-Fi network unstable.

Solution:

To prevent this error, the option 'Optimize the security settings for Wi-Fi access for increased compatibility with older wireless devices' must be enabled in FRITZ!OS.

Issue:

The Smart Home pages of the FRITZ!Box user interface show no contents or constantly display a loading symbol.

Solution:

The problem will be resolved in upcoming updates to the FRITZ! Lab.
Operation of the smart home is still possible via the FRITZ!App Smart Home, FRITZ!Fons, the FRITZ!Smart Control 440 and other switches. Existing routines, templates and scenes continue to work properly.

Issue:

On the ‘Overview’ page in the FRITZ!Box, the connection speed in the WAN direction (e.g., DSL) is displayed incorrectly in Kbit/s rather than Mbit/s.

Solution:

Fix with the next update.

Issue:

Under certain circumstances the user interface does not show a complete graphic rendering on the Overview Page in Repeater Mode (connected via LAN or Wi-Fi).

Solution:

A fix will be available soon.

Issue:

FRITZ!Box 7690, 7590: If a separate SSID is assigned after restoring factory settings, under certain circumstances it may not be possible to establish a Wi-Fi connection.

Solution:

Turn Wi-Fi off/on. Afterwards, connections with a separate SSID will be possible.
A fix will be available soon.

Issue:

Operation of the device in an Amazon Matter network can be severely limited if a larger number of smart home devices is registered with the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro linked with the Matter bridge function. The problem here is a rendering error in the Amazon app.

Solution:

Since this problem can be resolved only by Amazon, we recommend reducing the number of smart home devices registered with the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro in order to guarantee smooth functioning in the Amazon Matter network. Alternatively, the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro can be linked with a Matter network from Apple, Google, or Home Assistant. As far as we know, the above issue does not arise in the apps of these three manufacturers.

Issue:

Smart plugs with temperature measurement function can sometimes be displayed incorrectly as temperature sensors in an Apple Matter network.
The problem here is a rendering error in the Apple app.

Solution:

Since this problem can be resolved only by Apple, we recommend linking the FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro with a Matter network from Google or Home Assistant. As far as we know, the above rendering error does not arise in the apps of these two manufacturers.
