Updating FRITZ!OS via online update
FRITZ!OS is the smart operating system for all FRITZ! products that combines simple operation with a unique range of functions and comprehensive security. And development never rests: Free FRITZ!OS updates regularly add new functions and security features to your home network.
In the default settings, new FRITZ!OS versions are automatically installed several weeks after release (auto update level III). You can also perform an online update to the newest version any time.
Important:If you cannot perform an online update, for example when the internet connection is disrupted, you can also perform a manual FRITZ!OS update.
Performing an online update for the FRITZ!Box
- Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Update' in the 'System' menu.
Important:If the 'Update' menu is not available, your FRITZ!Box was supplied by your internet service provider. The internet service provider automatically installs new FRITZ!OS for these devices. It is therefore not possible or necessary to use the FRITZ!Box user interface to install the update. Refer to your provider for information on the new FRITZ!OS version and possible dates.
- Click on the 'Find New FRITZ!OS' button.
- If a FRITZ!OS update is found, click on the 'Start Update Now' button.
Performing an online update for a FRITZ!Repeater, FRITZ!Powerline or FRITZ!Smart Gateway
If you are using the FRITZ! product in a FRITZ!Box home network, perform the online update via the FRITZ!Box. As an alternative, you can perform the update directly on the FRITZ! product.
Performing an online update via the FRITZ!Box
- Click on 'Home Network' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on 'Mesh' or 'Home Network Overview' in the 'Home Network' menu.
- If available, click on 'Search for updates' on the bottom right.
- If a FRITZ!OS update is found, click on 'Update' or 'Perform update' next to the respective FRITZ! product.
Performing an online update directly on a FRITZ! product
- Click on 'System' in the user interface of the FRITZ! product.
- Click on 'Update' in the 'System' menu.
- Click on the 'FRITZ!OS Version' tab.
- Click on the 'Find New FRITZ!OS' button.
- If a FRITZ!OS update is found, click on the 'Start Update' button.
